Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between Ego-states and Self-esteem of nursing cadets by TA(Transactional Analysis) Ego-gram.

The questions of this study were as follows ;

1. Are there any difference of Ego-states and Self-esteem among nursing cadets by 4 school years?

2. Are there significant correlations between Ego-states and Self-esteem of nursing cadets?

3. Are there any difference between high Ego-states and low Ego-states in Self-esteem?

The subjects of this study were 300 female nursing cadets. As the measuring instruments, Ego-gram checklist and Self-esteem inventory were administered. The collected data were verified by statistical methods such as Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficient, t-test.

The results of this study were as follows ;

1. The type of Ego-states profile was gentle slope M type and there were differences among nursing cadets by 4 school years in Ego-states(A Ego-stae : F=207919, p£¼.05, FC Ego-state : F=6.2417, p£¼.001).

2. There were significant correlations between Ego-states and Self-esteem of nursing cadets (A Ego-state : r=.4658, FC Ego-state : r=.3911, NP Ego-state : r=.3647, CP Ego-state : r=.1989, AC Ego-state : r=-.4604).

3. There were differences between high Ego-states and low Ego-states in Self-esteem(A Ego-state : t=6.21, p£¼.001, FC Ego-state : t=4.06, p£¼.001, AC Ego-state : t=-6.48, p£¼.001, NP Ego-state : t=3.88, p£¼.001).
